I know that I really need to get over the whole messy thing, but it is hard when I know that if I just feed him myself we won't have much of a mess at all. Does my child really need to learn to feed himself this soon? Can't we go just a little bit longer before we have to deal with the mess? I will say that Kallen did seem to really enjoy his biscuit, which is good considering there are 11 more in the box. Not sure I will buy these again.

What a day!!
We got home and I quickly began to realize that Kallen was tired. It was about time for his bottle so I thought "Oh good! This will work out great!I'll just make his bottle, and rock him to sleep" (which = some good cuddling time).
Shawn was home painting our living room and had a cup of warm coffee sitting on the piano, and as I grabbed Kallen and headed towards the rocking chair his quick little fingers managed to catch the edge of the coffee cup. Next thing I knew, the coffee cup was laying on it's side, and coffee was running down the edge of the piano landing in a puddle on the carpet. The coffee had somehow managed to get all over me, but miss Kallen completely. (Good- at least I won't have to mess with Kallen's clothes too)
After just standing there in shock for a couple seconds, Shawn came over and we quickly moved into action cleaning up the mess. I set Kallen down in the kitchen with his bottle and went right back to help Shawn save our carpet! Just as we finished cleaning up, I turned to head to the laundry room so that I could spot clean my clothes before for the stain could set.
I glanced down at Kallen to see him shaking his bottle upside down, completely covered in milk. (He normally just guzzles his bottles) I couldn't believe what I was seeing! How much destruction can one child do in less than 5 minutes??
So now I am stripping Kallen down, and running upstairs to change my clothes. (I was also trying to keep him out of Shawn's paint in the living room) I sat him down in my closet and was just starting to change my clothes when the grunting started..........
That's right, he was working on a dirty diaper. (ok, seriously) I now have just 10 minutes before I have to leave. I was so frustrated with kallen that I just sat him in his crib, dirty diaper and all, and went back to finish changing my clothes.
I was just entering Kallen's room when I noticed him beginning to lay his head against the crib. (this is a BIG sign that he is ready to sleep) I changed his diaper and started to get him dressed when I noticed his eyes where starting to close. I finished up changing him and layed him in his crib. He was out within 5 seconds.
I know that older kids usually get naughty when they are tired, but I had no idea that it could start as early as 9 months.!! Lately as soon as Kallen realizes he is tired, he fights it with all that he has. I'm sure this is the first of many days like this but for now, I would be fine to not have another one for a LOOONG time!

!! No children were harmed in the making of this video!!
This is enough to give any mother a heart attack! There is only one disadvantage to being married to a swim coach and that is over confidence in the pool. They say that by 9 months your baby should be able to go completely under water....I just didn't plan on testing that theory the very day that he turned 9 months old.
And then, as if that last video did not have me freaked out enough- Shawn decided that he needed to take it one step further.......yes that's right- he purposely dropped Kallen in the water and let him swim back up. The only thing that kept me from leaping in the pool after my son, was the fact that I have complete confidence in my husband's training and I know that he would never put Kallen in a situation where he did not have total control.
I will say that after seeing Kallen swim back to the top and deciding I could breathe again, I was very proud of our son! And now that I think about it, Shawn teaching Kallen to swim at an early age will definately put my mind at ease when we are around water. So I guess that being married to a swim coach had its advantages too! :)
