Slides + Recycled Rubber = a Good Day!

Last year I was taking Kallen for a walk around our new neighborhood and I was really excited to discover a park just a few blocks from our house!! I spent the entire summer walking by that park and dreaming of the day that our kids would be running around, sliding down the slides, and screaming at the top of their lungs!!
All winter I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring....it has been a loooong winter and now that Kallen is older and walking I could NOT WAIT to get him outside again!! My sister was hanging out with our little brother Jacob (he's 9) today so they met us at our house and we all walked to the park! It was a little chilly but we had a GREAT time!
Kallen spent most of his time playing with the recycled rubber and I spent most of my time trying to keep it out of his mouth.
He LOVED sliding with his uncle Jacob!!

Hopefully this will be just the first of MANY more days at the park this summer!!

Strange Obsession

My son has a new obsession:
That's right...it's his Tylenol bottle. For the past 3 days he will freak out if he cannot find his Tylenol. To be honest I am not really sure how this even started, I hardly ever give him Tylenol. But the other day he found it while emptying his diaper bag (another thing he LOVES to do) and he has hardly let go of it since. He crawls around the house with it, sets it down right beside him so he can play, then picks it up and moves to his next location. Last night I finally just put him to bed and let him sleep with it because he freaked out every time I tried to take it away. It is the strangest thing! Today he even insists on eating with it:

The only good thing that has come out of this is that it has taken the place of his paci. (and if you know my son, you know that is a big deal!) Lets just hope I can break this habit by Sunday so that I am not the mom dropping her son off in the nursery with his beloved Tylenol bottle. :P

Future Valley Swimmer

This is one of those things that Kallen will probably kill me for someday but you have to admit it is funny! With Shawn being a swim coach, we have recieved a lot of gifts that have to do with swimming. So I figured we may as well put them all to good use!! As I was watching my son crawl around in a speedo, I had to wonder if this is a glimpse into our future. It would be pretty cool to have Kallen swim for his Dad someday....I guess we'll see!!

11 Months

This ornery little boy is 11 months today! I can't believe it! Here are some of the things Kallen is doing now:

- As of last week he only weighed 18 lbs (someday I will get this child fattened up)
- Eats almost anything that we eat (as long as he can chew it)
- Will not eat Avocado (it's the only thing he won't eat...wierdo :P )
- Climbs up and DOWN the stairs
- Claps when we say "Yay!!"
- Just got his 2 top teeth so we now have 4 (all of them are crooked :( )
- Will probably start walking any day now!
- In the last month has moved his bed time up to 7 but will still sleep until 7am
- Says "ma"(more), "ba ba"(bottle), "na na"(banana), "ba ba"(also can mean bye bye), and a bunch of jibberish
- Still LOVES his pacifier (I am planning on taking it away at 1)
- LOVES to destroy things (seriously anything he can get his hands on)
- Responds very well to "no no" (most of the time)
- And will randomly wave when he wants to (like all through Target the other day, but not to his daddy when he left for work....whatever)

So Close!!

Kallen is sooo close to walking! The most he has taken is 4 steps and then it is like he realizes it would be faster to crawl. I would guess that any day now he will just take off!!
